Me Playing a Jig,, mixed with Fairy Stories, I think it was Séamus Ennis, who said he got it from one of the '' Little People '' if he gave over his Gold Ring -- '' And he did , and here's the tune '' -- lol....

Slow down recordings

Post by Steve Bliven on Mon Aug 23, 2010 6:31 pm

Awhile back someone, I think Mad Rua, asked about The Amazing Slower Downer (or whatever its real name is). Last weekend at the Pipers Gathering Bill Ochs was raving about a program called Transcribe! [ www.seventhstring.com/ ] It will slow down a recording (from a CD or YouTube or even provides for digital recording from a cassette or vinyl—no provision for 8-tracks), adjust the pitch, allow you to isolate segments and loop them, and lots of other stuff. You can try it for free for 30 days and if you like it the cost for a license is $50.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet (nor do I have any financial interest in the program) but Bill thought it was the greatest thing going for this sort of work.

For your consideration....

Best wishes.

Yes, it was me asking about the Amazing Slower Downer.

I've tried using the trial version of the ASD but they don't give you enough to really see what you're buying.

I looked at the page you linked to above, and from what I can see, the "Transcribe!" program does look superior to the ASD. Certainly the interface is much cleaner and more descriptive.

I also liked the fact that unlike the ASD, you can pay with PayPal or a credit card for Transcribe!, and not send cash (in Euro!) to some anonymous address in Scandinavia.

I'm going to download the trial and see what it's like.

Thanks, Steve!
